Micron Loses $1,000, Ether Retests Its Floor, Gitcoin's Fourth Spike
Three theoretical setups for October 13: Micron after its first close below $1,000 since mid-September, ether after a second test of the $2,406-$2,410 area, and Gitcoin after a 137% fifteen-minute spike.
MU · Micron Technology — Bearish, Short-term (days). Micron fell 3.88% on October 12 to $989.04, its first close below $1,000 since September 17, as the semiconductor ETF posted its fifth straight decline. Reports that China's CXMT has made progress on denser memory chips hit memory makers worldwide, and overnight SK Hynix fell more than 10% and Samsung about 8% in Seoul, which points to more pressure when US markets open. Theoretically, the setup favours a test of the September 18 breakout area near $978, and then the mid-September lows around $903-$920, while Micron stays below $1,036, the October 8 close; a daily close above that level would invalidate it. Memory stocks can rebound violently on any reassuring comment on AI demand, and TSMC's results this week could be that catalyst.
ETH/USD · Ethereum — Neutral, Short-term (days). Ether closed October 12 at $2,447.17, its lowest close since September 16, and touched $2,409.09 just after midnight — a few dollars above its October 8 low of $2,406.11 — before bouncing to about $2,530. Two tests of the same area in five days make $2,406-$2,410 the key level. Theoretically, a daily close below $2,400 would favour a move toward the mid-September lows near $2,360, while a daily close back above $2,600, the floor that held from September 21 to October 6, would suggest the selling is exhausted. Between those levels, the setup is a range rather than a trend. Wednesday's US CPI release is the most likely catalyst for a break in either direction.
GTC/USD · Gitcoin — Bearish, Short-term (days). GTC jumped 137% in a single fifteen-minute candle on October 12, from $0.166 to $0.393, its highest price since August 2025, and closed up 55% at $0.2816. It was the fourth spike in two weeks, and each of the previous three — on October 2, 5 and 7 — faded over the following day or two. GTC was already back near $0.24 early on October 13 after a 15.9% hour. Theoretically, the pattern favours a further fade toward the $0.18-$0.19 area where it traded before the spike, while GTC stays below $0.34, the top of the October 12 afternoon range; a daily close above it would invalidate the setup. Each spike has also set a higher low than the last, which suggests persistent buying, so sudden squeezes are a real risk.
