NEAR Breaks Out After a Failed Reversal, Bitcoin Stuck in the Middle, Wormhole's 83% Spike
Three theoretical setups for October 12: NEAR Protocol after its highest close since January 2025, bitcoin inside its two-week range ahead of US inflation data, and Wormhole after an 83% overnight run.
NEAR/USD · NEAR Protocol — Bullish, Short-term (days). NEAR rose 11.35% on October 11 to $5.896, its highest close since January 6, 2025, and touched $6.00 early on October 12. The breakout came three days after a bearish outside reversal on October 8 that was fully erased, and the key fifteen-minute candle traded $31.8 million while the price held most of the gain afterwards. A failed bearish pattern followed by a breakout above the level that capped it is often a sign of strong underlying demand. Theoretically, the setup favours continuation while NEAR closes above $5.595, the October 8 high; a daily close below it would invalidate the idea. The $6.00 round number is the first obstacle, and after a 40% rebound in four days, sharp intraday pullbacks are likely even if the trend continues.
BTC/USD · Bitcoin — Neutral, Short-term (days). Bitcoin closed October 11 at $83,773, its highest close since October 6, but it is still in the middle of the range it has traded in since late September — between the October 8 low of $80,394 and the $87,220-$87,400 zone where it stalled repeatedly. Weekend volume was the lowest in more than a week, and the big moves have been in small tokens rather than bitcoin itself. Theoretically, a daily close above $85,600, the October 7 high, would put the upper end of the range back in play, while a close below $82,500, roughly the October 10 low, would favour another test of $80,400. Until one of those happens, the range is the setup. Wednesday's US CPI release is the most likely catalyst for a break in either direction.
W/USD · Wormhole — Bearish, Short-term (days). Wormhole's W rose 83% between its October 11 low of $0.01695 and a high of $0.03108 early on October 12, its highest price since January 22, after a 25.3% hour on $7.0 million of volume. At the start of October it traded around $0.013, so the token has more than doubled in less than two weeks. Its earlier volume spikes, on September 27 and October 8, both faded within days. Theoretically, after a vertical overnight leg, the setup favours a pullback toward the $0.022-$0.023 area where the first leg topped and the October 11 close sits, while W stays below $0.0311; a daily close above that level would invalidate the idea. W absorbed a 13% drop on Sunday evening and rallied straight through it, which shows strong demand, so further squeezes higher are a real risk.
