Bitcoin Holds Its Breakout, Axie Joins the Gaming Rotation, the Euro Breaks 1.12
Three theoretical setups for October 5: bitcoin's upside break from Saturday's inside day, Axie Infinity's second-wave move in gaming tokens, and the euro's slip below 1.12 in Asian trading.
BTC/USD · Bitcoin — Bullish, Short-term (days). Bitcoin broke above Saturday's inside-day high of $85,037.63 on Sunday morning and closed October 4 at $86,530, up 2.1% and its highest close since September 21. Early on October 5 it reached $86,999.11 before slipping to around $85,500, so the breakout is being tested within hours. Theoretically, the bullish view holds while daily closes stay above roughly $85,040, with the $87,220-$87,400 zone — where bitcoin has been rejected three times since September 21 — as the target and the level that would need to break for a larger move. A daily close back below $85,040 would invalidate the setup and repeat the pattern of September 27-28, when an upside break from an inside day reversed the next day. The stop is close to the current price, which keeps risk small but makes a whipsaw more likely.
AXS/USD · Axie Infinity — Bullish, Short-term (days). AXS rose 13.4% on October 4 to $1.36, its highest close since May 11, on $16.9 million of Binance volume — about seven times its 30-day average — as gaming tokens rotated from The Sandbox into laggards such as Axie Infinity and Beam. It is up about 50% since September 15 and roughly 69% from its 2025 close, yet still more than 50% below its January high of $2.997. Theoretically, momentum favours further gains while daily closes hold above $1.198, the October 3 close from which Sunday's move began; a close below that level would invalidate the setup. A daily close above Sunday's $1.456 high would confirm continuation. Early on October 5 AXS had pulled back to about $1.30, and second-wave moves in a sector rally tend to be less durable than the first, so sizing should be conservative.
EUR/USD · Euro / US Dollar — Bearish, Swing (1-4 weeks). EUR/USD fell from 1.1233 to 1.1166 in Asian trading on October 5 and was trading near 1.1190 by 05:00 UTC, below every daily close since May 2025. The pair has fallen about 3.8% since its September 9 close of 1.1634, with lower closes through late September and a fresh low close of 1.1249 on October 2. Theoretically, the trend favours further dollar strength while daily closes stay below 1.1260, the top of the weekend's range; a close above that level would invalidate the setup. A daily close below 1.1166 would confirm Monday's break, with 1.11 as the next round-number reference. Binance's EUR/USDT market is thin compared with the interbank pair, so a break made in quiet Asian hours should be confirmed once European and US volume returns.
