Aave Above Its January High, Stacks After a Rejection, Zcash Still Making Lower Highs
Three theoretical setups for October 2: Aave's break through a nine-month high, Stacks' range after Wednesday's spike-and-fade, and the steady sequence of lower highs in Zcash since its September 26 peak.
AAVE/USD · Aave — Bullish, Swing (1-4 weeks). AAVE closed October 1 at $171.44, up 7.5%, and early on October 2 traded as high as $187.50 — above its January 14 peak of $180.37 and its highest price since December 2025. The token is up more than 30% from its September 20 close of $137.59, and the move has been specific to Aave rather than DeFi as a whole, which tends to make a trend more durable than a sector-wide squeeze. Theoretically, the bullish case is that the old January high now acts as a floor: daily closes holding above roughly $180 would confirm the breakout. A daily close back below $171.44 would turn it into a failed break, and a close below $158.50, Wednesday's low, would invalidate the setup entirely. After a 30% run, a pullback toward the breakout level would be normal rather than alarming.
STX/USD · Stacks — Neutral, Short-term (days). STX has more than tripled since mid-August, but its October 1 candle was a clear rejection: an intraday high of $0.4142, 11.5% above the open, followed by a close of $0.3739, barely changed on the day. That leaves a short-term range between Wednesday's low of $0.3664 and the $0.4142 high, with price early on October 2 sitting near $0.377, in the lower part of it. Theoretically, a daily close above $0.4142 would reopen the uptrend; a close below $0.3664 would point toward the $0.317 area where the September 30 breakout began. Inside the range, the longer-term trend argues against shorting and the rejection argues against chasing, so there is no clear edge either way.
ZEC/USD · Zcash — Bearish, Short-term (days). Since peaking at $1,698 on September 26, Zcash has printed a clean sequence of lower daily highs — $1,680, $1,600, $1,489, $1,494.52 and $1,449.75 — and on October 1 it fell 7.2% to $1,335.56 after touching $1,305, about 23% below the peak. It was trading near $1,376 early on October 2. Theoretically, the bearish view holds as long as that structure does; a daily close above $1,494.52, the September 30 high, would break the pattern of lower highs and invalidate the setup. A daily close below $1,305 would confirm the next leg lower. ZEC remains up roughly 60% over 30 days, so this is a read on a correction within a much larger advance, not a call on the longer trend.
