First Day of Q4: NEAR Back Near Its High, Uniswap Stuck Under a Reversal, Gold Still Heavy
Three theoretical setups for the start of the fourth quarter: NEAR's quick recovery from its September 28 drop, Uniswap's range beneath the September 23 reversal, and tokenized gold after its only losing month among the assets we track.
NEAR/USD · NEAR Protocol — Bullish, Swing (1-4 weeks). NEAR closed September at $5.34, up 178% for the month, and its 9.3% gain on September 30 erased most of the 10.5% drop from September 28 within two sessions. Higher timeframes are unambiguous: the monthly and weekly charts are in a strong uptrend, and the daily chart has not yet printed a lower low below the $4.55 reached on September 29. Theoretically, the bullish case is a move through the $5.58 September 27 high, which would extend the trend; the risk is that a stretch this steep invites sharp shakeouts like September 28. A daily close below $4.55 would break the higher-low structure and invalidate the idea. Given how far the coin has run, size matters more than direction here.
UNI/USD · Uniswap — Neutral, Short-term (days). UNI reversed hard from $10.94 on September 23 and has since traded mostly between roughly $8.45 and $10.20, with a second 9% drop on September 28 taking it back toward the bottom of that band. It closed September at $8.88, still up about 70% for the month but 19% below the peak. That is a classic post-reversal range: the trend that carried it from $5.23 is not broken on the monthly chart, but the daily chart shows sellers in control near $10. Theoretically, a daily close above $10.20 would reopen the path toward the highs, while a close below $8.45 would point to a deeper retracement toward the mid-$7s. Inside the range, there is no edge in picking a side.
PAXG/USD · PAX Gold — Bearish, Short-term (days). Tokenized gold was one of only two assets in our 49-coin basket to fall in September, losing 6.4% from $4,451 to $4,166, and its September 28 drop to $4,122 marked the lowest price of the month. The bounce since then has been shallow — a high of $4,224 on September 30 and around $4,190 early on October 1 — which keeps the short-term structure of lower highs intact. Theoretically, the bearish view holds while price stays below roughly $4,260, the level it broke down from on September 28; a daily close above it would invalidate the setup. A break below $4,122 would confirm the next leg. Gold tends to move slowly, so this is a structure read, not a call for a collapse.
