Zcash's Wake-Up Call: +420% in Two Weeks (October 2025)

From about $56 to $291 between September 28 and October 11, 2025 — with a +62% day, a 32% pullback and even a flash crash along the way. The start of a much longer move.

Zcash launched in 2016 as a privacy-focused cryptocurrency, using zero-knowledge proofs to let users send shielded transactions that hide sender, receiver and amount. For years afterward it was mostly an afterthought in the market, and at the end of September 2025 it was trading around $55 on Binance.

The move started quietly — from $55.63 at the open on September 28 to about $74 by the end of the month — and then stopped being quiet. On October 1 ZEC gained about 62% in a single day, from $74.30 to a close of $120.76, touching $129.20 intraday. The next day it reached $159.84. Renewed interest in privacy coins, amplified by high-profile commentary from well-known investors on social media, carried the move along.

It was not a straight line. After hitting $176.20 on October 4, ZEC slid to a low of $120.67 on October 7 — a 32% pullback in three days that looked, at the time, like it might be the end. It wasn't: the price was back above $212 by the close of October 9.

Then came October 10, the day of the broad crypto flash crash. In the 21:00 UTC hour ZEC dropped from the $220s to a low of $147.55 — roughly a third of its value in minutes — before recovering to around $216 within the next hour. On October 11 it pushed to a new high of $298.05 and closed at $291: about 423% above the September 28 open.

In hindsight this window was only the opening chapter. By late September 2026, ZEC was trading above $1,500 on Binance, the highest levels since it was listed there in 2019. The replay is a good study in how parabolic rallies actually unfold: a 62% day, a 32% drawdown and a flash crash all happened inside the same two-week uptrend.
