Wormhole's Two-Leg Rally: +34%, a 13% Shakeout, Then +25% in an Hour (October 2026)

Between the evening of October 11 and the morning of October 12, 2026, Wormhole's W token rose 83% from its low to its highest price since January, with a sharp shakeout in between. Relive both legs, hour by hour.

Wormhole is an interoperability network: it lets tokens and messages move between different blockchains, such as Ethereum and Solana. Its W token had fallen heavily since its 2024 launch, and at the start of October 2026 it traded around $0.013. It had already shown signs of life, with volume spikes on September 27 and October 8, but neither held.

For most of October 11, W barely moved, trading between $0.0170 and $0.0180 on less than $250,000 an hour. The first leg began in the US afternoon: +3.3% at 16:00 UTC, +7.6% at 17:00 UTC, +6.0% at 18:00 UTC and +9.3% at 19:00 UTC, reaching $0.02333 with volume climbing from $0.2 million to $3.5 million an hour. That was a 34% climb from the quiet range in four hours.

The 20:00 UTC hour was the test. W fell 13.3%, from $0.02292 to $0.01988, on $3.2 million — nearly as much volume as the best hour of the rally. A drop like that often ends a small-cap spike. This time, the next two hours recovered most of it, and W closed October 11 at $0.02204, up 25.01%.

The second leg came early on October 12. In the 02:00 UTC hour, W jumped 25.3% to $0.02884 on $7.0 million, its busiest hour of the replay. It held between about $0.027 and $0.030 for the next few hours and reached $0.03108 in the 06:00 UTC hour — 83% above the previous day's low and its highest price since January 22. Notice the pattern: a sharp shakeout that is quickly bought back, followed by a stronger second leg, is a sign that buyers were using the dip rather than fleeing it.
