The Graph's 30% Sunday Evening and the Round Trip That Followed (September 2026)
On Sunday, September 27, 2026, The Graph's GRT token rose 30% in about seven hours on a near-empty order book. By October 1 it was back where it started. Relive the spike and the slow unwind.
The Graph is an indexing protocol that lets applications query blockchain data, and its GRT token is a small, thinly traded asset compared with the large coins. On Sunday, September 27, 2026, it spent most of the day doing nothing at all: trading between about $0.0271 and $0.0288, with many hours seeing less than $100,000 of Binance volume.
From around 17:00 UTC that changed. GRT rose hour after hour — the 19:00 UTC hour alone took it from about $0.0308 to $0.0332 on roughly $2 million of volume, twenty times the earlier pace — and the climb continued until the last hour of the day, when it touched $0.0367. GRT closed Sunday at $0.03597, up 30.3% in a session where nearly the entire gain came after dark in Europe.
The unwind started at Monday's open. GRT fell 15% on September 28 to $0.03057, then kept drifting lower on shrinking volume, and closed October 1 at $0.02809 — less than 2% above Sunday's opening price. Four days after the spike, the chart had made a complete round trip.
Weekend liquidity is the context to keep in mind while watching. Volume that would barely register midweek can move a small token dramatically on a Sunday evening, and the same thin order book offers little support once the buying stops.
