PEPE's 18% Climb Into Fed Day (October 2026)
PEPE rose 18% between October 26 and 28, 2026, from $0.00000425 to $0.00000502, in two separate pushes. The second packed $10.7 million and 24,124 trades into one hour after midnight UTC. No news was reported for either. Replay a meme-coin rally that ran ahead of the rest of crypto.
A rally in PEPE rarely comes with a press release, and this one had none. The frog-themed meme coin had spent the second half of October on a wide, choppy range: up 9.62% on October 20, a high of $0.00000511 on October 23 on $112 million of Binance volume, then down 5.31% on October 25. When this replay begins, on the evening of Monday, October 26, it was trading near $0.00000430, and its low of $0.00000425 came in the 23:00 UTC hour.
The first push was a US-afternoon affair spread over Tuesday, October 27. The 12:00 UTC hour rose 1.64% on $2.68 million, the 14:00 hour 2.08% on $2.72 million, and the 16:00 hour 3.40% to $0.00000456, the largest gain of the day. A 1.97% pullback at 17:00 on $2.82 million, the heaviest hour of the session, did not undo it, and PEPE finished the UTC day up 6.48% at $0.00000460. Bitcoin climbed back above $80,000 the same day after a stretch of quiet losses, and analysts at Coindoo described PEPE's move as a technical breakout above $0.00000462, the 0.236 retracement of its decline from a cycle high near $0.00000537, rather than a reaction to any news.
The second push was faster. In the 01:00 UTC hour on Wednesday, October 28, PEPE rose 6.74% to $0.00000491 on $10.7 million and 24,124 trades, about ten times the hourly volume of the previous evening. The 02:00 hour fell 1.42% on $8.26 million, the 03:00 hour set the high of $0.00000502, 18.1% above Monday's low, and the next two hours closed lower, to $0.00000478 by 05:00. Over 24 hours CoinMarketCap showed PEPE up 11.76%, well ahead of Dogecoin at 2.99%, Shiba Inu at 2.83% and Bonk at 3.15%.
The lesson is in the volume profile. Tuesday's gains came on steady, moderate volume through European and American hours; Wednesday's came in one concentrated hour in the Asian night, followed by heavy two-way trading that went nowhere. A rally that needs ten times its usual volume to add 7% and then stalls just below the previous week's high is a rally meeting sellers. It also ran into a calendar: the Federal Reserve was due to announce its decision at 18:00 UTC that day, with a December rate hike priced as likely, and meme coins tend to magnify whatever bitcoin does next.
