Mina's 41% Bleed: An Outside Reversal, Then Forty Hours of Selling (October 2026)
Mina Protocol set a 2026 high of $0.1714 on October 5, 2026, closed below the previous day's low, and then fell almost every hour for two days, reaching $0.1012. Relive a slide with no single crash candle, hour by hour.
Mina Protocol is a blockchain designed to stay very small by using zero-knowledge proofs, a type of cryptography that lets a network verify information without storing all of it. Its MINA token was one of 2026's strongest recoveries: from a low of $0.0367 on June 30, it had more than quadrupled by early October, more than doubling from its mid-September level of about $0.08.
On October 5, MINA jumped 5.7% in the 05:00 UTC hour and reached its 2026 high of $0.1714 in the 10:00 UTC hour. From there it never recovered. The selling was slow at first — a series of 1% hourly declines through the US session — then accelerated late in the evening, with a 3.3% drop in the 22:00 UTC hour. MINA closed at $0.1492, down 5.4% and below the previous day's low of $0.1549. That made October 5 a bearish outside reversal: a new high followed by a close below the prior day's entire range.
October 6 was relentless rather than dramatic. Almost every hour closed lower, with the largest single declines being 3.8% in the 04:00 UTC hour and 4.8% in the 19:00 UTC hour, when MINA broke below $0.12. The busiest hour, 20:00 UTC with $1.3 million traded, set the day's low of $0.1119 before a brief bounce to $0.1252. MINA closed at $0.1139, down 23.66%, on $12.1 million of volume, about four times its 30-day average.
The slide continued into October 7, reaching $0.1012 in the 05:00 UTC hour — about 41% below the peak in less than two days. Notice how few of the hourly candles are large: this is what persistent supply looks like, with sellers meeting every small bounce. For a trader holding a position, slides like this are often harder to manage than a single crash candle, because no single hour seems alarming enough to act on.
