Meteora's Evening Breakout: MET +36% in a Day After a Flat Morning (October 2026)

On October 7, 2026, Meteora's MET token spent the morning near $0.32, then rose 10% in two consecutive hours and closed up 35.8% at its highest level since November 2025. Relive the breakout and the wick that followed, hour by hour.

Meteora is one of the main decentralized exchanges on Solana, known for liquidity pools whose fees rise automatically when trading gets volatile — a design that has made it a common venue for new token launches. Its MET token began trading in late 2025 and has been very volatile since, falling below $0.10 at its 2026 low. In the first days of October 2026 it was trading around $0.30, while another Solana exchange token, Orca, was rallying 77% in three days.

The morning of October 7 gave no hint of what was coming. MET dipped to $0.3018 in the 11:00 UTC hour and then traded in a narrow band around $0.32-$0.33, on well under $1 million an hour. The move started at 16:00 UTC: +10.1% to $0.3652, followed by +10.4% to $0.403 in the 17:00 UTC hour, with volume rising from $1.4 million to $3.2 million.

The 18:00 UTC hour was the busiest of the day, with $6.8 million traded. MET reached $0.4622 but closed the hour at $0.4185, leaving a long upper wick — the first sign of heavy selling into the rally. Instead of reversing, though, it held above $0.40 and climbed again: +4.2% at 19:00 UTC and a new high of $0.4744 in the 21:00 UTC hour. It closed the day at $0.4454, up 35.83%, on $23.8 million of volume, about seven times its 30-day average and its highest close since November 14, 2025.

Watch how the pullbacks behave after the 18:00 UTC wick. Every dip after it held above $0.40, each of the following hours closed above $0.41, and early on October 8 MET pushed to $0.4821. A long wick that isn't followed by a lower low is a very different signal from one that starts a reversal — and the only way to tell them apart is to watch what the next few candles do.
