Kaia's Upbit Listing: +84% in Two Hours, Fifteen Minutes at a Time (October 2026)
On October 9, 2026, Kaia's KAIA token jumped from about $0.038 to $0.068 after South Korea's largest exchange listed it, then gave back about a third of the gain by early afternoon. Relive a listing spike candle by candle.
Kaia is a blockchain formed in 2024 from the merger of Klaytn, created by the Korean internet company Kakao, and Finschia, backed by the messaging app LINE. Despite those large backers, its KAIA token had drifted lower for most of 2026, and in early October it traded around $0.037 on little volume.
The replay starts with a market that is almost asleep. Between 06:00 and 08:00 UTC on October 9, KAIA moved in a band of less than a cent, with some fifteen-minute candles trading only a few thousand dollars. Then Upbit, South Korea's dominant exchange, opened KAIA trading. The 08:00 UTC candle jumped 24% to $0.047 on $3.8 million of volume — hundreds of times the previous candle.
Notice what happened next: no immediate reversal. The 08:15 UTC candle held flat, and from 08:30 UTC KAIA climbed in every candle for almost two hours — +3.2%, +4.5%, +2.2%, +5.2%, +6.4%, +4.1%, +7.1% — reaching $0.068 in the 10:15 UTC candle, 84% above the day's open. That steady staircase, rather than a single spike, is typical of a listing where new buyers arrive over hours rather than minutes.
The top was marked by a long upper wick at 10:15 UTC and then a series of red candles. By 12:15 UTC KAIA had slipped to $0.053, about 22% below the peak, before stabilising. It finished the day at $0.0605, up 63.51% on about 41 times its usual volume and at its highest close since February. Watch where the decline stopped in the replay: around $0.053, just above the $0.051 area where the 09:00 UTC leg of the rally began.
