FET and the 35 Minutes That Erased 76% (October 2025)
On the evening of October 10, 2025, while Bitcoin fell about 17%, the AI token FET dropped from $0.468 to $0.113 in roughly 35 minutes — and kept sliding in the week that followed instead of recovering.
FET is the token of Fetch.ai, which in 2024 joined SingularityNET and Ocean Protocol in the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance, making it one of the better-known AI-themed tokens in crypto. It opened this window on October 9, 2025 at about $0.555 and slipped to around $0.49 by the end of that day.
The damage came on the evening of October 10, as a surprise tariff announcement triggered a market-wide liquidation cascade. At 20:45 UTC FET was trading near $0.468. By 21:10 it had fallen to $0.383. Then the bottom fell out: in the five minutes from 21:15 it dropped to $0.163, and at around 21:20 it printed $0.113 — about 76% below where it stood 35 minutes earlier.
What followed was almost as violent in the other direction. Within the next few five-minute candles, FET wicked back up above $0.44 as buyers stepped into an order book that had been emptied, then settled into the $0.23-$0.35 range. It closed the day at about $0.346 — still down around 30% for the session, versus roughly 17% peak to trough for Bitcoin.
Unlike Bitcoin, which began clawing back part of its loss within 48 hours, FET did not find its footing. After a bounce to $0.429 on October 11, it drifted steadily lower, to $0.3145 on October 14 and about $0.273 by the close of October 16 — roughly half its value at the start of the window.
The replay shows two things that are hard to appreciate from a daily chart. One is how little a stop-loss can do in a book this thin: an order triggered anywhere in that 35-minute slide could have been filled far below its trigger. The other is that the size of the drop on a smaller token is not simply a larger copy of Bitcoin's; it can also leave behind a weaker recovery.
