Beam's 27% Hour: The Gaming Rally's Second Wave (October 2026)
On October 4, 2026, Beam's BEAMX token rose 27% in a single hour on its heaviest volume since May 2025, as money rotated from The Sandbox into gaming laggards. Relive the spike and the slow fade, fifteen minutes at a time.
Beam, formerly Merit Circle, runs a gaming-focused blockchain network and ecosystem, and its BEAMX token had sat out most of the gaming-token rally that began in late September. While The Sandbox's SAND jumped 53.5% on October 2, BEAMX added just 4.4%. On Sunday, October 4, the rotation reached it.
The first signs came before dawn in Europe: from 03:00 UTC, BEAMX began rising on volume several times its overnight norm, reaching $0.0024 by 05:00. The breakout came in the 08:00 UTC hour. The 08:00 candle lifted price from $0.002406 to $0.002668, the 08:15 candle traded nearly $2 million as it pushed to $0.002895, and the 08:45 candle set the day's high at $0.00305 — 27% above where the hour began and about 43% above the previous close.
Then the selling started. BEAMX hovered around $0.0029 until about 10:00 UTC, but each bounce was weaker than the last, and through the afternoon and evening it slid steadily toward $0.0025. It closed the day at $0.002555, up 19.6% but 16% below the high, on $20.1 million of volume — roughly 27 times its 30-day average and the most since May 1, 2025. Axie Infinity's AXS, another gaming laggard, rose 13.4% the same day while SAND barely moved.
The replay shows the anatomy of a rotation spike. Note how much of the day's volume is packed into a single hour, and how the price never returns to the high once that burst is over. When a token trades more in one hour than it normally does in a week, the buyers are largely newcomers chasing a theme — which is why the fade afterwards is so persistent.
