Origin's OGN Doubled on 63 Times Its Usual Volume, and iExec's RLC Went for a Third Leg

OGN rose 99.9% on October 8 to its highest close since November 2025. RLC gained 29.7% to a new one-year high and then spiked to $1.488 early on October 9 — about four times its October 4 close.

While most of the crypto market fell on Thursday, October 8, two small tokens had the kind of day that only happens in thin markets.

Origin Protocol's OGN had traded in a tight range around $0.02 for weeks, often on less than $500,000 a day. On Thursday it closed at $0.04567, up 99.87%, on $56.2 million of volume — about 63 times its 30-day average. The move came in stages rather than all at once: +17.6% in the 08:00 UTC hour, +24.3% at 10:00 UTC, +17.9% at 12:00 UTC and +16.9% at 17:00 UTC, with a peak of $0.05345 in the 20:00 UTC hour. That was OGN's highest price since October 15, 2025, and the close was its highest since November 2, 2025. Origin builds yield products such as its liquid-staking ether token, but we didn't find an announcement that explained the jump. Early on Friday, OGN had eased to about $0.042.

iExec's RLC was already this month's most dramatic story: it doubled on October 5, touched $1.077 on October 6 before closing 31% lower, and slipped another 8% on October 7. On Thursday it came back. RLC jumped 15.1% in the 06:00 UTC hour and 21.4% in the 16:00 UTC hour, then reached $1.0845 at 17:00 UTC — just above Tuesday's high and its highest price since October 13, 2025. It closed at $0.8835, up 29.66%, on $27.3 million of volume.

The next leg came early on Friday, October 9. RLC rose 20% in the 05:00 UTC hour and spiked to $1.488 in the 06:00 UTC hour, its highest price since August 2025, before falling back to about $1.26 within the same hour. From the October 4 close of $0.3644, that's a fourfold move at the peak in five days.

Moves like these are mostly about liquidity. When a token trades only a few hundred thousand dollars a day, a sudden wave of buyers can move the price far more than the same money would move a larger asset — and the same thin order book works in reverse when they sell. Since October 6, every new high in RLC has been followed by a sharp drop within hours, and the gap between each spike's high and where it closed has been large.
