LayerZero and Filecoin Closed at Their Highest Since Spring While Bitcoin Stalled Again

ZRO rose 9.8% on October 5 to $2.168, its highest close since March, and FIL gained 11.8% to its highest since May. Bitcoin, meanwhile, failed for a fourth time to get through the $87,000 area.

Not every move in crypto this week has been a one-day spike in an obscure token. Two well-established infrastructure names extended steadier trends on Monday, October 5, and both closed at levels not seen for months.

LayerZero, whose protocol lets applications send messages and tokens between different blockchains, rose 9.83% to close at $2.168 — its highest close since March 24 — on $25.2 million of Binance volume, about twice its average. The token has been in a strong recovery since setting a 2026 low of $0.706 on July 31; from the September 15 close of $0.995 it is up about 118%. On Tuesday morning it briefly reached $2.19 before settling near $2.13. The next obvious reference is February's high of $2.59, the top of the year.

Filecoin, the decentralized storage network, gained 11.79% to $1.1846, its highest close since May 9. Unlike many of this month's movers, FIL's volume of $21.6 million was only modestly above its 30-day average, which points to a broader, slower bid rather than a sudden burst. Since its August 18 low of $0.6095, FIL has nearly doubled, though it is still below where it ended 2025 at $1.298.

Bitcoin, by contrast, went nowhere. After closing Sunday at $86,530, it reached $86,999.11 early on Monday and then slipped, closing October 5 at $85,766.87, down 0.88%. That high is the fourth time since September 21 that BTC has stalled just below the $87,220-$87,400 zone. A market where the largest asset is stuck while selected altcoins rise is typical of rotation phases: traders look for momentum elsewhere while bitcoin consolidates. It can last for a while, but it also tends to end abruptly if bitcoin breaks in either direction — so the $87,400 ceiling and the $85,000 area below remain the levels to watch.
