Hedera's 27% Monday Was Its Busiest Trading Day in More Than a Year

HBAR traded about $200 million on Binance on September 28, more than twelve times its recent daily average, and closed at its highest level since mid-January. Almost all of it started in one hour.

Most of the crypto market spent Monday, September 28, going down. Hedera's HBAR went the other way. It closed the day 27.3% higher at $0.1221, its highest close since January 14, after trading as high as $0.1310 in the early evening (UTC).

The volume is the striking part. About $200 million of HBAR changed hands on Binance on Monday. Over the previous two weeks its daily average was around $16 million, and even its busiest day in that stretch, September 22, came to about $33 million. To find a day with more trading you have to go back to July 17, 2025.

The move had a precise starting point. Through the Asian morning HBAR drifted between roughly $0.094 and $0.098, in step with a market that was falling. Then, in the hour from 08:00 UTC, it jumped 11.4% on about $24 million of trading, more than it had traded across the whole of Saturday or Sunday. The next hour added another 4%. Algorand started rising in exactly the same hour, which suggests buyers were targeting more than one coin, although the price data alone doesn't say what set it off.

In a longer frame, HBAR set its 2026 low of $0.0643 on August 17. Monday's high was 104% above that. It is still below its early-January high of $0.1350, and roughly half of where it traded a year ago.

By 06:00 UTC on Tuesday it had eased to about $0.119, with hourly volume back down to $3-6 million. A one-day surge of this size tends to mark either the start of a new, higher range or the most crowded point of a move. The next few sessions, and whether HBAR holds above the level where Monday's breakout began, should show which.
