Ether Closed at Its Lowest Since September 16, Then Rebounded 5% Overnight

ETH fell 3.54% on October 12 to $2,447.17 and touched $2,409 just after midnight, while bitcoin dropped 2.3% to $81,850. By early October 13 both had bounced: bitcoin to about $83,700 and ether to about $2,530.

Crypto's majors slid through Monday, October 12 without a single dramatic candle. Bitcoin peaked at $84,352 in the 06:00 UTC hour and drifted lower for the rest of the day, closing at $81,850, down 2.30% and at its lowest close since October 8. Ether lost 3.54% to $2,447.17, its lowest close since September 16. Solana fell 5.02% to $105.76 and XRP 4.83% to $1.3422, both their lowest closes since September 17.

The low came just after midnight. In the 00:00 UTC hour on Tuesday, October 13, bitcoin touched $81,033.66 and ether $2,409.09 — only a few dollars above ether's October 8 low of $2,406. Then the market turned: by 06:00 UTC, bitcoin was back near $83,700 and ether near $2,530, about 5% above its low.

The pattern is worth noticing. Ether has now tested the $2,406-$2,410 area twice in five days and bounced both times, which makes it a level traders will watch closely. A daily close below it would be the first since mid-September. Bitcoin, for its part, is still trading inside the $80,400-$87,400 range it has held since September 21. Neither move broke anything yet, but the second test of a low is usually more important than the first.
