On a Quiet Saturday, Three Small Tokens Traded 20 to 53 Times Their Normal Volume
Lumia rose 24% on 53 times its average volume, Caldera's ERA 20% on 22 times and Conflux 22% on 20 times, while bitcoin had its narrowest day in a week. Two of the three spiked again on Sunday morning.
Saturday, October 10 was the quietest day for bitcoin in a week, but a scan of relative volume — how much a token traded compared with its 30-day average — found three names with moves far out of proportion to the rest of the market.
Lumia (LUMIA), a blockchain focused on bringing real-world assets such as bonds and property on-chain, had the most extreme reading: $23.9 million of volume, about 53 times its average. It jumped 42.7% in the 07:00 UTC hour to $0.1247 and touched $0.1394 the next hour, then spent the day fading and closed at $0.1015, up 24.08% and at its highest close since July 12. On Sunday morning it moved again, rising 37.7% in the 04:00 UTC hour and reaching $0.1833 in the 05:00 UTC hour, its highest price since May.
Caldera, which helps projects launch their own rollups, saw its ERA token jump 24.7% in the 08:00 UTC hour, touching $0.1137 — 74% above the day's open — before giving most of it back. ERA closed at $0.0782, up 19.94% on about 22 times its average volume, its highest close since July 26. That long upper wick, with the close 31% below the high, is a typical sign of a spike that met heavy selling.
Conflux (CFX), a public blockchain built to operate within China's regulatory framework, followed a steadier path. It rose 13.1% in the 14:00 UTC hour and closed at $0.06168, up 21.61% on about 20 times its average volume, its highest close since May 16. Early on Sunday it added another 15.4% in the 06:00 UTC hour, reaching $0.071.
We didn't find specific announcements behind any of the three moves. Relative volume is useful precisely because it flags unusual activity before the reason is known, but it doesn't tell you the direction of the next move. In this case, it highlighted one spike that was largely rejected the same day (ERA) and two that continued the next morning (LUMIA and CFX).
