Aave Just Cleared Its January High. The Last Time It Traded Here Was December
AAVE rose 7.5% on October 1 and kept going early on October 2, touching $187.50 — above January's $180.37 peak and its highest price since December 19, 2025.
Three days ago, Aave's jump to $176.28 stood out because it happened on a red day for most of the market. The move has since extended. AAVE closed October 1 at $171.44, up 7.5%, on about $39 million of Binance spot volume — above its recent daily average of roughly $32 million. In the early hours of October 2 UTC it pushed through the level that mattered most on its chart: the $180.37 high from January 14.
The 04:00 UTC hour did most of the work, carrying the token from the high $170s to $187.37, and the following hour printed $187.50. To find a higher price you have to go back to December 19, 2025, when AAVE touched $187.58. By about 06:00 UTC it was trading near $181, so part of the spike had already been handed back.
For scale: AAVE closed at $137.59 on September 20. A gain of more than 30% in under two weeks is a strong move for any large DeFi token, and it came without a matching rally across the sector — Curve fell 5.1% and Lido 4.3% on October 1. That makes Aave's run look like a token-specific story rather than a DeFi-wide wave.
Old highs are reference points, not walls. The next question is whether AAVE can hold above the $180 area on a daily closing basis. The speed of Friday morning's spike, and the partial give-back right after it, suggest the market hasn't made up its mind yet.
