The world's largest e-commerce company, also a dominant force in cloud computing through Amazon Web Services (AWS). Founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookstore, it now generates a disproportionate share of its total operating profit from AWS, even though the retail segment remains larger by revenue.
