Spot Trading vs. Long Term Mode: Choosing Your Holding Window

Both modes track the real price with no fixed payout. The difference that actually matters is how long the position runs — and what protection comes built in while it does.

Spot Trading and Long Term are Trade2Spike's two non-binary modes — both track the real market price directly, with profit or loss matching the actual move, no fixed payout and no artificial spread. The core mechanic is identical; what separates them is time and structure.

Spot Trading positions stay open as long as you want, closed manually whenever you choose to take profit or cut a loss. That flexibility is the whole point: it suits a trader who wants to actively manage a position, react to how price develops, and decide the exit in real time rather than having it decided in advance.

Long Term flips that trade-off: every position runs on a fixed 48-hour window with an automatic 8% stop-loss built in, closing on its own rather than requiring active management. That structure suits a trader with a longer-horizon thesis who doesn't want to babysit a chart for two days straight, at the cost of giving up the flexibility to exit early on a whim or hold past 48 hours if the thesis needs more time.

Neither is strictly better — they answer different questions. Spot Trading is the better fit when you want full control over timing; Long Term is the better fit when you have a view that needs more than a few hours to play out but you'd rather not actively watch it the whole way. Trying both on the same asset is the fastest way to feel the difference rather than just read about it.
